where: work party

when i found out i won the soon maternity gift card, i immediately knew i wanted to get a fancy dress for our company’s annual dinner/dance party. it’s one of the only times during the year that we get dressed up and go out…and i actually do something fun with my hair. so it’s kind of a big deal. :)

i really wanted a dress that would make me feel good about my body. it can be hard when you’re carrying 15 extra pounds (and counting…) to feel attractive. this dress turned out to be perfect! the black color was slimming, and it’s simple and really emphasizes the bump.

(it was a few inches longer than i wanted it to be, so i just hiked it up a bit. ha! you can’t really tell because there is ruching on the sides of the belly anyway.)

p.s. i love to dance, but it was awkward to do so with a belly. when eric and i slow-danced to “my girl,” we had to do more of a side-hug sway…oh the joys! :)

where: work meetings

i wore this yesterday to work meetings, at which they gave everyone an iPad. whaaa? and bonuses, which will help us complete our emergency fund this month. that is a huge relief as we prepare financially for this baby. at the meeting we also got to build about 20 bikes and personally give them to the cutest 5-year-olds i have ever seen. you should have seen their eyes light up!

needless to say, i’m feeling very, very grateful.

i seriously work for the best company in des moines. which, you know, is the greatest city in the world, right? it was recently named the best city to raise a family and the best city for young professionals. i know you guys all want to move here now! :)

ok, i need your help! what are the best iPad cases and apps? i have an iPhone but most of my apps are not compatible with the iPad…

my outfit week 32 pregnancy style

random thoughts at 32 weeks

when: monday, jan. 16, 2012

what i wore:
cardigan: american apparel
dress: borrowed, one september (thanks, gwenie!)
leggings: be maternity
boots: steve madden

where: work, midwife appointment

baby’s heart rate at this week’s appointment = 140 bpm

total weight gain = 15 pounds

i’m starting to feel a longing in my heart to meet this little girl. i often wonder what her little face looks like, and what color her hair is. eric and i are both so excited to get to know her.

eric put a flashlight on my belly and we loved watching/feeling her respond. he also played our favorite music for her. it was really special family time and i didn’t want it to end!

i know this is selfish, but i am very eager to get back into my old jeans and clothes.

i had a dream last week that we found out we were having twin girls and we couldn’t think of another name. when will these crazy, crazy dreams stop?

it’s kind of amazing that i haven’t gotten sick once during my pregnancy. i usually get a sinus infection every november, but not this year! and while many of my co-workers are calling in sick, i’m feeling great.
