birthday suit

my 27th year was a big one.

i’d like to think i’m wiser and less selfish today than i was one year ago. i feel like i’ve grown a ton — as a person and in my style. i really owe a lot of it to this blog. blogging consistently for almost a year is good for the soul and the mind, i think. i’d like to say i’d write this blog even if no one read it, but i always want to come back because you guys are here. thanks for reading, and learning right alongside me.

when: friday, sept. 30, 2011 (my 28th birthday)

what i wore:
button-up: banana republic
sweater: h&m
jeggings: american eagle
boots: unisa (thrifted, gift from linda

i always plan to wear something special on my birthday. this year i knew i wanted to wear this sweater because i haven’t worn it since it’s first appearance one month ago (i loaned it to a friend for a couple weeks). they style it this way — with a button-up under it — on the h&m website and i love how it looks but i never would have thought of it myself.

as far as the rest of the outfit…i won a pair of oxfords from wanted shoes, but they came and were a size too small so i sent those back and won’t have the new ones for at least another week. but wouldn’t you guess it, linda came through in a big way and mailed me these adorable desert boots and some missoni for target socks the day before my birthday. so i got to wear them both today, too!

p.s. how amazing does the new iphone 4s look?! i am so excited to get one next month. our contract will be up then so the timing is perfect. AND my white 3gs has had a cracked screen for about a month so i’ve been eagerly awaiting this release! woo!

twenty-eight

what i wore:
hair bow: c/o sproos
dress: zac posen for target
shoes: mossimo

it’s my birthday today! the first one i’ve celebrated since starting this blog. and what better to wear than a pretty dress and hair bow?

we’re traveling to my parents’ this weekend, and meeting them at an amazing steakhouse for dinner tonight. i. can’t. wait. tomorrow we’re hosting a baby shower for my cousin and seeing my other cousin perform in RENT. hope you have a wonderful weekend planned as well!

disclaimer: these photos were taken last week, when my bump was smaller and the weather was warmer!

oh, i almost forgot…

16 weeks

what i wore:
hat: forever 21
shirt: anthropologie
sweater: anthropologie
leggings: target
leg warmers: target
shoes: simply vera vera wang via kohl’s

  • doesn’t 16 weeks sound like a lot more than 15? and a lot closer to 20 weeks? eek. that seems crazy!
  • i’ve read that the baby will go through a growth spurt in the next few weeks. you know what that means for me, right?! stretch, belly, stretch!
  • two people touched my belly this week, and i actually didn’t mind at all. it’s fun to see other people get excited.
  • thanks for all the compliments on my long, thick hair. it has been growing so fast lately!
  • i’m fairly happy-go-lucky about this whole pregnancy thing. in general i am not a worrier so i always assume that my feelings / cramps are normal and don’t google my symptoms. i know this is good for me and my baby, but maybe i’m naive about all the things that can go wrong. i’m just trusting that it all will work out just fine — whatever is God’s plan for us.

p.s. i intentionally don’t talk about my pregnancy on this blog very much. typically just once a week with the bump photo/update. this is meant to be a style blog, and our family/lifestyle topics are discussed on words of williams. if you’re curious in reading more about our pregnancy, we wrote letters to the baby this week and are currently wondering how our priorities will align after baby is born and also if it’s a boy or a girl!
