rocker mom?

  • jacket c/o sheinside
  • tee c/o junk food clothing co.
  • jeggings : american eagle
  • flats : isaac mizrahi via target

i’m still figuring out my “new” style.
will be trying out lots of things to see what feels right…

here’s the rocker look.
hmm.

not too bad?

a bump in the road.

top: soon maternity | belt, skirt and sandals: target

my search for style has been on quite a journey in the past year—first learning to dress a bump (it’s been almost a year since i found out i was pregnant!) and now learning to dress my after-baby body.

honestly, in the past few weeks i have had a heck of a time putting together an outfit i’m proud of. (the one above was stolen from sydney.)

i’ve read that three months after you have a baby (which is NOW for me), you start to redefine your style.

i didn’t think it would happen to me.

but i can’t count the number of times in the past few weeks that i’ve wanted to throw out most of my clothes and start over.

it doesn’t help that spring/summer are difficult seasons for me to dress for anyway.

it’s getting so bad that last weekend i wasn’t sure we were going to get out of the house on time for rooney’s baptism until eric swooped in and picked out my outfit for me (i ended up wearing a repeat of this).

there are just too many things in that closet.

i’m thinking i need to do a big cleanout/sale soon and then be a lot more intentional going forward.

but i’ve said that before

old news

when: friday, april 20, 2012

what i wore:
glasses: charlotte russe
necklace: c/o hollydolly
shirt: madewell
cardigan: madewell via ebay
jeggings: american eagle
belt: target
shoes: wanted via delias

where: date night!

this outfit is so three weeks ago. no, really. i wore it three weeks ago when eric and i went on a date. to do romantic things like go to the bank and pick out landscaping plants. be jealous. i would be, too, if my life wasn’t this exciting.

a newfound confidence.

when: sunday, april 1, 2012

what i wore:
sunglasses: won from paul frank
necklace: gift, lisa leonard
cardigan: madewell
tank: gap
skirt: forever 21
shoes: lela rose for payless

where: dance recital

i have to say that becoming a mom has made me appreciate my body so much more. just thinking about what it has been through and produced makes me really proud. it’s sort of empowering. and even though i only shower and get dressed every few days, it’s really more fun than ever before.

UPDATE: here’s a tip on the tank. don’t machine dry it! i just pulled mine out and it is half the length it was…sad face.

the outfit that almost never was

when: saturday, march 24, 2012

what i wore:
sunglasses: paul frank (giveaway)
cardigan: ebay (there’s one left!)
dress: h&m
necklace: lisa leonard (gift)
tights: we love colors (maroon)
shoes: simply vera vera wang via kohl’s

where: errands, family walk

i was going to wear this exact outfit four weeks ago, the day rooney was born. an hour before i went to put it on, my water broke. (lucky for these tights. now they just have spit-up on them. does anyone know how to wash tights???)

have a good weekend! we’re going to watch my twin nieces’ dance recital. can you say cuuute?

FRIDAY FAVORITES

  • why retailers need to work harder to sell to 18- to 34-year-olds. (thanks to my dad for sharing this article with me! it gives some insight on why i might hate to buy stuff that’s not on sale.)
  • this is still my all-time favorite youtube video. and i don’t even like cats hat much.
  • i salute tania for knowing when to say good-bye. even though i’ll miss her, it would be harder to see her blog die a slow death. props to her for going out on top!
  • maternity leave means lots of online shopping. i just ordered a pair of sandals from rue la la and a heart-shaped wall hanging with rooney’s name, birth date and time. we also have one with our names and wedding date. next to purchase: a black maxi skirt and a denim jacket.
