MY VIEW

AND I FINALLY DID THIS:

  • we have four months to go! wow. i can’t believe that means i’m five months along and that in four(ish) months i will be holding my little girl.
  • i’m feeling great…and feeling very lucky because of it. i’m just dealing with the occasional sharp pains/contractions and lack of ab muscles.
  • sleep feels so good! i can sleep for hours…it might be the best sleep i’ve ever had, and i never thought i’d say that considering i can’t lay on my stomach.
  • i can tell i’m getting bigger because i can’t push myself into my desk as far at work anymore. i’ve heard that this is probably how big my stomach will be be immediately after giving birth.
  • baby girl’s really active at night and in the morning (basically when i’m resting). her kicks are strong at times but not painful yet. it’s so fun to have a little thing jumping around in there! the best moments are when eric feels her, too, and when he talks to her through my belly button.
  • i love to daydream about how she will fit in just perfectly in our family. i can just feel it…the same way i could tell she was going to be a girl.
  • check out this video where my husband and i answer some questions we’ve received about our baby names and cloth diapering.
  • and here’s another post about financially preparing for a baby, this time in regard to buying all the stuff you need!

the past week went so fast! here’s a quick update:

  • we are trying to get a few things checked off our to-do list, like buying items for the nursery, finding a pediatrician and child care, and registering for a birth class. up until now i feel like we’ve been in denial that we’re going to have a baby.
  • last week i had dizziness/nausea for three consecutive evenings. i’m still not sure what was the cause of that, but i’m glad it has decided to pass!
  • i’ve been sleeping really well! (yea for body pillows!)
  • i’m occasionally having cramping/contractions when i stand in one place for a while, typically in the afternoon/evenings. it doesn’t sound like anything to worry about, but just to keep monitoring it.
  • i know two people who had baby boys last week. we’ve got four months to go, but it made me feel ready to meet my baby!
  • hearing your husband tell you that he loves your belly is good for the soul.
  • he also told me my feet are getting puffy…oh no!
  • total weight gain so far = 6 pounds (they want me to gain 30 total).

baby posts from the past couple weeks:

21 weeks { and the gender revealed! }

we’re having a GIRL! and we’re so excited!

  • at the 20-week ultrasound, everything checked out perfect. goodness, we are so blessed. they are able to look closely at so many things (check the lips for cleft palatte, check the feet for club foot, umbilical cord position, heart chambers, blood flow, vertibrae, etc.) and it was so fun to see our little babe again! eric and i always hold hands during the ultrasounds and give little squeezes when we just can’t contain our excitement.
  • she weighs 13 ounces and is the length of a banana, and her heartbeat was 153 bpm.
  • the ultrasound tech says our baby has a lot of fat on her face (making the 3D ultrasound photos less freaky), which i was really excited about! good job, baby!
  • eric felt her kick for the first time this past weekend! we were laying in bed on saturday morning and she was kicking so hard so i took his hand and i almost cried when he said he could feel it! it was such a special moment!
  • on saturday i was watching my belly while eric was watching football, and i saw it move when she kicked really hard! it was crazy. i partly feel like i’ve been invaded by aliens and partly like this is the coolest thing ever.
  • i got asked by the carlos o’kellys waiter how far along i am. i was thrown off a little because i wasn’t sure anyone could tell yet! woo!
  • i’m fairly certain that i’ve been experiencing braxton hicks contractions in the past few weeks (just a few times). they are quite uncomfortable. i’m trying to look on the bright side and using them to practice my deep, slow breathing that i plan to use during real labor, but it’s hard to do when i’m at work and just want to lay down!

20 weeks — halfway there!

thanks for all the love you sent in the past couple days via the comments section and on twitter regarding my presentation at work! it went just fine and i’m so glad it’s over!

***don’t forget to enter the lilac saloon and bean & the sprout giveaways! we’ll also have one more giveaway tomorrow.

  • can you believe how much i grew in the past week? the baby is the length of a cantaloupe now!
  • i’ve got to say that i’m really starting to fall in love with this little one. a big part of that bonding is that now…
  • i’ve started to feel it move! i used to only be able to feel it when i was laying on my stomach or pushed in really close to my desk at work. now i can feel it when i’m just sitting on the couch or laying in bed. my favorite is waking up to little baby kicks in the morning. it is so adorable. sometimes it’s so light that it tickles/itches. i can’t wait for eric to be able to feel it, too!
  • is there such a thing as a mid-pregnancy crisis? i had my first emotional pregnancy moment. you know how people say pregnant women cry a lot? well, i’ve been just fine…until one day last week. i was tired. i didn’t like my outfit, or my hair. i didn’t feel like myself and there were a few things i was nervous and stressed out about. having this little babe is going to be wonderful but it also brings with it lots of things to figure out. needless to say i was overwhelmed! and yes, i cried. so then eric rubbed my back and took me to my favorite restaurant.
  • because of the baby’s growth this week, i’ve experienced some round ligament pain that is, well, quite painful. sometimes there are SHARP pains in my side and i can’t hardly stand up straight! and then i wonder how labor and contractions could be any worse. ha! :)
  • we find out TOMORROW if we’re having a boy or a girl! there will be almost 30 people watching us find out…including some dear friends who are traveling a few hours to be there. can you tell i’m excited? i’ll be sure to announce the news here next week, or you can check our lifestyle blog this weekend!

19 weeks

i think i lied last week. i turn a new week on mondays. (that would make sense since i’m due on a monday, right?) we usually take our bump photos on sundays…oops.

i’m pretty sure i’ve worn this outfit before. or at least something really close

when: sunday, oct. 16, 2011

what i wore:
tank: maude via langford market in austin, texas
cardigan: american apparel
necklace: forever 21
jeggings: american eagle
shoes: jessica simpson via dsw

where: lunch with my family

  • somehow my bump looks smaller than it did at 13 weeks! is this normal? i still don’t think strangers can tell that i’m pregnant.
  • we have an ultrasound next week! it will probably be our last one if everything looks ok. i really hope the tech is able to tell what we’re having because we’re planning to throw a gender reveal party the next day with our family and friends. but more than that i just want to know that baby is growing as it should and has all the parts!
  • i must praise my husband for going to every single appointment with me so far! what a trooper. he even gets up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, too, so i don’t feel like i’m doing this alone.
  • i kind of talked about this last week, but i’d say my biggest issue right now is sleeping. it’s hard to get comfortable and my back is a little sore. so i just lay there for at least an hour and daydream about what our baby will be and what we will name it. and those crazy dreams! i can’t even talk about them, they are so weird.
